A new member has been added to the Puma family of digital
Telecom/Datacom testers. The new Puma 4320E has a single Telecom
(E1) channel interface and a single Datacom (X.21) interface, thus
meeting the needs of basic installation tasks.
Newly introduced on this unit is the 'Quick-test' facility
that enables a technician to set up and run commissioning tests
with a few simple keystrokes. The Puma 4320E automatically switches
directly to the result displays as soon as the test commences.
The 'Quick-test' mode is accessed from the Main Menu
and offers a range of standard fixed parameter tests which commence
as they are selected.
Although intended primarily to assist commissioning,
the Puma 4320E can also conduct fully comprehensive Telecom BERT,
Datacom BERT and propagation delay tests as implemented on the Puma
4300. These features are supported with the full range of printing,
storage and event recording common all models in the Puma 4000 series.
The unit supports framed and unframed telecom (E1)
testing and Datacom testing with DTE and DCE emulation.
The key features of the unit are as follows:
1. Full E1 telecom testing, with transmitter and receiver.
(75 ohm unbalanced BNC and 120 ohm balanced RJ-45 connection arrangements).
2. X.21 Datacom interface with DCE and DTE emulation
supporting bit rates from 5bps up to 10Mbps.
3. Range of easy access Quick-tests.
4. Comprehensive full function Telecom BERT capability.
5. Comprehensive full function Datacom BERT capability.
6. Telecom circuit Propagation Delay test.
7. Serial and parallel printer support.
8. PCMCIA card slot for information archiving.
9. Portability, with up to 8 hours operation from rechargeable
batteries.
