The Consultronics CableSHARK is used for the qualification of twisted pair cable in the local loop. It analyzes xDSL service deliveries at the level where problems really occur - at the physical layer. The CableSHARK performs Frequency Response testing to 2 MHz, Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), Longitudinal Balance, Load Coil Detection, Power Spectral Density, Noise and Impulse Noise measurements. In addition, the CableSHARK has built-in DMM measurements. The CableSHARK is ideal for qualifying local loops that will be used to carry DDS, ISDN, HDSL, HDSL2, SDSL, G.Lite, G.shdsl and ADSL circuits. The CableSHARK features a patent pending "DMT" test that analyzes the quality of each DMT sub-channel for both G.Lite and full rate ADSL in order to determine the upstream and downstream data rates a loop would support without the need for a DSLAM. The CableSHARK cable bundle owners to police for signals that are above regulatory limits.

The CableSHARK RM offers all of the comprehensive test and analysis features of the CableSHARK in a 19-inch rackmount configuration. The instrument is controlled remotely via a RS232C (V.24) interface. Control of the unit is made via Bellcore TL1 commands. Visi-SHARK is a MS Windows® 95/98/ME/2000 software package which enables you to use your PC to control the CableSHARK. In addition to making remote control measurements, Visi-SHARK allows you to view, print or save to disk, information from your local and/or remote CableSHARK(s).

The new "Visi-SHARK" software for the Consultronics CableSHARK allows Service Providers to test and monitor their local loops in order to determine the quality of the circuit without a costly truck roll. This ensures a high quality connection between the Central Office and the Customer Premise while keeping expenses under control.

To run a test using Visi-SHARK, you simply use your PC mouse to command the CableSHARK. Visi-SHARK's intuitive controls will be instantly recognizable to any CableSHARK user. Clicking on the graphical buttons on the screen of your PC has exactly the same effect as pushing the buttons on the CableSHARK front panel. The information on the screen changes as you operate the unit.

Visi-SHARK can be purchased by all current CableSHARK owners. New purchasers can choose to have this optional feature at the time of ordering.
